Facility Excellence

Platinum Award

Recognizes a treatment facility that has maintained 100% permit compliance (Gold Award level) for three consecutive years. Platinum status continues as long as compliance is maintained; if compliance lapses, a facility must earn three consecutive Gold Awards to become eligible for Platinum again.

Legislator of the Year

Recognizes a public official for a significant contribution to ensuring clean water for Rhode Island.

About the award

Purpose. The Clean Water Legislator of the Year Award is presented to an elected or appointed public official who has made a documented, significant contribution to clean water legislation, public policy, government service, or another area of public prominence that has improved clean water outcomes for Rhode Island.

The award. A Clean Water Legislator of the Year Award trophy.

Frequency. Yearly, or as deserved.

Eligibility. Nominees must hold an elected or appointed office (RICWA membership is not required) and must have made a significant contribution to ensuring clean water for Rhode Island.

How to submit a nomination
  • A one-page biography of the nominee
  • A statement of the specific reasons for the nomination (two pages maximum), describing their work improving the water environment, plus any other supporting material relevant to the award criteria
